Agency Re-Signs Henri Kontinen and Adds Brother Micke
McLean, VA (November 4, 2011) - Global sports and entertainment marketing leader Octagon announced today the re-signing of Finnish tennis pro Henri Kontinen and the new signing of his younger brother, Micke Kontinen.
At 21-years old, Henri has already reached a career high ranking of 220 ATP and has won five men's tournaments in singles and eight in doubles. In addition, Henri is a leading member of the Finish Davis Cup Team; most recently winning his singles and doubles matches in a 3-2 victory of Poland. Octagon first signed Henri in 2008, the year in which he was a Finalist in Wimbledon boys singles, winner of the French Open boys doubles and a Finalist in US Open boys doubles. These results helped him earn a year end under 18 ranking of number 4.
"We are very pleased that Henri has selected Octagon to continue to serve as his exclusive global representative," said Alastair Garland, Octagon's Director of Client Management. "Since signing him as Wimbledon junior finalist in 2008, Henri has continued to prove that he has the physical, technical and mental capabilities to make it to the very top of the ATP. He has been unlucky with a number of injuries which have temporarily delayed his final breakthrough but we are confident that 2012 and 2013 will be big years for him."
Two and half years Henri's junior, Micke also signed an exclusive representation contract with Octagon. A three-time ITF Junior Tournament champion, Micke was the finalist in the Finland F1 Future and a quarterfinalist in the Germany F17 Future this year. Micke is currently ranked 673 on the ATP Tour rankings.
"We are also excited that we are adding Henri's younger brother, Micke, to our roster," said Garland. "For many years our goal has been to add Micke to our client list. He is an exceptional talent and we believe that there is added value in having both brothers under one management roof. We are sure he'll make it to the very top of the ATP as well."
