Unicef Open - 2010
Henri Kontinen - Unicef Open 2010
Henri reached a significant waypoint last week, fighting his first ATP Tour victory. He didn't need to qualify for the Unicef Open as he got wild card from the tournament organizer. The tournament was played in s'Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.
In the first round the lot threw Henri against Jamaican qualifier, Dustin Brown (ATP 105). Henri thanked the organizers for the wild card by winning the battle against him in three-set match by 7-5, 2-6, 7-6(5).
In the second round Henkka could have encountered Jarkko Nieminen (ATP 66) if Nieminen had won his own game against Benjamin Becker (ATP 48). Becker, who made semi-final, defeated Henkka in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
After one and a half month break from tournaments, Henri wasn't ready to play more than one good match at this level and experienced German took advantage of it.
Henri plays for the next time 28.6.-4.7. in Kassel, Germany, in ITF Futures-tournament. The prize money is $15 000+H.
